Amidst the debate about raising the minimum wage, tax credits continue to enjoy bipartisan support as a way to augment low income workers while encouraging engagement in the workforce. Last year at least 15 states considered legislation that would either create, expand or retain a state version of the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), according to a recent analysis by the National Conference of State Legislatures.
